“Bogotá is a city in central Colombia, is the country's capital, located at an elevation of about 2,650 m. on a mountain rimmed plateau high in the Cordillera Oriental of the Andes Mountains.


Bogotá was founded on the 6th of August 1538 by the Spanish conquistador Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada who fough the Chibcha Indians near the site of the populous tribe center called Bacatá. The new city became the vice-regal capital of New Granada in 1717. It was captured by Simón Bolívar in 1819 and was the capital of the independent nation of Great Colombia (which included modern day Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, and Venezuela). It became the capital of New Granada (later renamed Colombia) in 1830 when Great Colombia was dissolved.

Many foreigners since long time ago  came to  “Plaza de Toros de Santamaria” they came to see the hilarious and magnific shows, however many people that  is against of this take this place as sceneray of teathre groups and dacing performance .

This bullfighting ring is home of many spectacles, shows, concerts, and of course bull fighting.
If you like this spanish tradition, you have to come during the special season that begins in july and ends in august.

Sure, bullfighting takes a lot of courage, and is dramatic. But that doesn't make getting stabbed to death any more pleasant for the bull!

“Cultural life in the city concentrated in literary gatherings, which during the Nineteenth century allowed Bogotanians to share their literary and political concerns and to attend musical and drama presentations. Maldonado Theater featured theatrical and opera presentations and by the end of the Nineteenth century Bogotá had two important theatres: the Theater of Cristóbal Colón, inaugurated in 1892, and the Municipal Theatre, inaugurated in 1895, which featured zarzuela (operetta) and musical shows. Also the scenario for important Colombian history events during the decades of the 30s and 40s


It is the oldest theater of films showing in Bogotá. It got its name because it was built inside crockery’s factory installations (called Faenza). The building has Italian influence, architectonic features of art nouveau and academic eclectic of the end of XIX century.

It was inaugurated in 1924, and then it turned into an important cultural stage of the capital. In 1975, it was declared National Monument.
